AyHire
> Hire developers by what they shipped. AyHire reads public GitHub work (repos, READMEs, commit history and public activity), scores each developer on six counts with the evidence attached, and tells you who is open to work. People use the website; agents use the MCP server, the Claude Code plugin or the HTTP API.
What AyHire does
- **Finds the people behind repos.** Name what the repos are about, and optionally how recently they were created and their main language. AyHire takes the most-starred matching repos and ranks the people who wrote most of them. Bots are left out.
- **Scores a developer on six counts**, each from 0 to 10, for a total out of 60. Every score sits next to what it was read from.
- Technical depth: how substantial and widely used their own work is.
- Shipping: how often and how recently they push.
- Stack match: TypeScript, Python, Rust, Go and the frameworks around them.
- Communication: READMEs, commit messages and issue activity.
- Value: quality relative to the cost of hiring where they live.
- Hidden gem: strong work with little public attention.
- **Lists red flags**, such as very low recent activity, few public repos, thin READMEs, low-quality commit messages, or signs of inflated stars.
- **Checks availability.** The verdict is one of: employed, employed but open, open to work, likely employed, or unknown, always with the evidence. GitHub is checked first, which is free; LinkedIn and a work email lookup come after and cost about a cent. A deeper lookup can also search for a LinkedIn by name and company, for a few cents more. Every value says where it came from and how sure it is, and a LinkedIn matched by name and company is marked as a guess.
What it reads, and what it never reads
- Reads: public repos with their stars, forks and languages; READMEs, summarised; commit history; pushes, pull requests and issues from the last 90 days.
- Never: private repos or full source code. Only a short summary of each profile is kept.
