## 5 Juicebox alternatives for engineering recruiting

https://ayhire.com/alternatives/juicebox · 27 October 2026 · 9 min read · Nawneet Kumar

> Five Juicebox alternatives for hiring engineers: prices checked 27 October 2026, what each does with GitHub, and a real AyHire search for an agent engineer.

Juicebox is a people search with email outreach. You describe who you want in plain words, and its [PeopleGPT page](https://juicebox.ai/peoplegpt) says it searches "800M+ profiles from 30+ data sources" and "evaluates up to 5,000 profiles" for each search. For engineering roles, it lists "activity signals from GitHub" next to publications and speaking.

Teams look for a Juicebox alternative for a few reasons. ATS integration is listed only on its custom Business plan. The price is per seat. And when you hire engineers, a search across hundreds of millions of profiles still leaves you reading code to find out who can do the work.

This list is for teams hiring engineers. Every vendor price comes from the vendor's own pricing page, opened on 27 October 2026. Prices change, so check before you buy.

### One brief, run in AyHire

Here is what AyHire returned on 27 October 2026 for a real brief: a senior Python engineer who has built LLM agent frameworks. We ran the first step of a role, finding the people behind the code, through AyHire's MCP server. This step is free. We didn't run the same brief in Juicebox, because that needs a Juicebox account; its free plan is the way to compare for yourself.

AyHire turned the brief into this GitHub search and showed it before running it:

```
agent framework language:"Python" stars:>=1000 pushed:>=2026-09-01 archived:false fork:false
```

70 repos matched. AyHire read the 8 most-starred and took the five people who wrote the most of each, which came to 39 people, because one person is in the top five of both LangChain and LangGraph. Every person came back with their profile link, the repos they were found through, their rank in each and their commit count. Here is what the eight projects look like, by the commits of their top five people:

- [langchain-ai/langchain](https://github.com/langchain-ai/langchain/graphs/contributors), 148,555 stars: 5,540 commits from the top five, the most from one person 1,398.
- [TauricResearch/TradingAgents](https://github.com/TauricResearch/TradingAgents/graphs/contributors), 117,151 stars: 491 commits, 452 of them from one person.
- [microsoft/autogen](https://github.com/microsoft/autogen/graphs/contributors), 61,588 stars: 1,562 commits, the most from one person 473.
- [crewAIInc/crewAI](https://github.com/crewAIInc/crewAI/graphs/contributors), 60,174 stars: 1,854 commits, the most from one person 735.
- [HKUDS/nanobot](https://github.com/HKUDS/nanobot/graphs/contributors), 49,498 stars, created in February 2026: 3,632 commits, 3,505 of them from two people.
- [AstrBotDevs/AstrBot](https://github.com/AstrBotDevs/AstrBot/graphs/contributors), 44,155 stars: 3,959 commits, 3,504 from one person.
- [langchain-ai/langgraph](https://github.com/langchain-ai/langgraph/graphs/contributors), 43,992 stars: 3,019 commits, the most from one person 800.
- [openai/openai-agents-python](https://github.com/openai/openai-agents-python/graphs/contributors), 30,334 stars: 1,323 commits, the most from one person 810.

Two things stand out. Stars don't tell you how many people built something: TradingAgents and AstrBot are mostly one person's work, and LangChain is spread across five. And in a role, this is only the first step. AyHire then scores the five people who wrote the most, judges them against the role's criteria from their commits, pull requests and READMEs, and tells you [who to talk to first](/blog/how-ayhire-decides). We stopped before that step here, and we list projects rather than people: the developers in these repos didn't ask to be on a marketing page.

### 1. AyHire, best for judging engineers from their code

AyHire is our product, so read this entry with that in mind. You describe the role in a sentence. AyHire plans the searches and shows them before they run, finds the people who wrote most of the most-starred matching repos, and judges the top few against your role's criteria, with a link behind every judgement. You get a call on each person: who to talk to first, one line of why, and one thing to check.

**Key features**

- Criteria per role, each marked Must have, Important or Nice to have. See [writing criteria](/guides/writing-criteria).
- Who is open to work, LinkedIn and email, each with its source and how sure it is.
- Shortlisted people go to Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby and 10 more ATSs, or anywhere else through a webhook.
- Works from Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and other agents over MCP.

**Pricing**

- 14-day free trial, no card needed.
- AyHire: $99 a month for one person. Team: $79 a person a month, at least 2 people. Yearly billing gives 2 months free. See [plans and pricing](/pricing).

**Pros**

- One price per person, however many searches you run, within hourly limits.
- Every claim about a person links to the work behind it.
- ATS push on both plans, where Juicebox lists ATS integration on Business.

**Cons**

- No outreach and no sequences: you write to people yourself. Juicebox sends email from Starter.
- Public work only. When someone's best work is in private repos, their criteria show as Unknown. That never counts against them, but they rank below people whose public work shows the fit.
- Weak for roles with little public code. Juicebox searches far more people, for every kind of role.

### 2. SeekOut, best for a GitHub rating with outreach

[SeekOut](https://www.seekout.com) says it searches "1B+ profiles" and finds talent "from patents, GitHub, publications" and other signals. Its [help centre](https://support.seekout.com/en/articles/11878149-what-is-coder-score-and-how-is-it-calculated) (1 September 2026) gives each GitHub member a Coder Score of one to five stars, overall and per language; five stars is the top 2%. The two biggest inputs are how many people work on a project and how often someone's code is forked.

**Pricing** (from [SeekOut's pricing page](https://www.seekout.com/pricing)): Sourcing Core $149 a month billed yearly or $179 monthly, with 3 seats, 500 contact credits and 1,000 exports a month, and 14 days free with no card. Other plans are custom and billed yearly.

**Pros**: a documented GitHub rating, outreach in the same tool, three seats on the entry plan.

**Cons**: full ATS integration starts on Sourcing + Integration, priced by quote. The pricing page doesn't mention GitHub, so confirm on the trial that GitHub search is in your plan. Our [SeekOut alternatives](/alternatives/seekout) page compares it with AyHire in more depth.

### 3. Pin, best for a free plan with sequences

[Pin](https://pin.com/pricing) is a self-serve sourcing tool whose FAQ says it searches 850M+ profiles. Its Free plan has 5 contact lookups a week, 1 job and email-only sequences. Solo is $100 a user a month, billed yearly only, and Professional $135 a user a month billed yearly, both with multi-channel sequences. The FAQ says it integrates with 120+ ATSs, as an add-on on Solo and Professional.

**Pros**: a free plan, and sequences on every plan. **Cons**: ATS costs extra below Enterprise, and its pricing page doesn't mention GitHub.

### 4. Gem, best for sourcing and a CRM beside your ATS

[Gem](https://www.gem.com/pricing) runs next to your ATS or replaces it. Its pricing page lists AI sourcing across 800M+ profiles, multi-channel sequences, unlimited email-finding and bi-directional ATS sync. Prices are custom, set by company size, except a Startup Program for companies of 1 to 10 people at $130 a month billed yearly. Companies under 30 employees get All-in-One free for six months, then 50% off.

**Pros**: ATS sync is part of the product, and small companies get a real offer. **Cons**: no published price beyond startups, and its pricing page doesn't mention GitHub.

### 5. hireEZ, best for volume across many channels

[hireEZ](https://hireez.com/pricing) searches "1B+ candidate profiles across 45+ channels", with email, SMS and InMail sequences and 40+ native ATS integrations. Solo starts at $494 a month with a 7-day free trial; enterprise pricing "is configured to the stack hireEZ replaces".

**Pros**: the most channels in one tool. **Cons**: the highest published entry price on this list, and its pricing page doesn't mention GitHub.

### How to choose

- **You mostly need outreach to run itself**: stay on Juicebox, or try Pin for a free start and Gem if you also want a CRM.
- **Your hard part is knowing which engineers are good**: pick AyHire for a call on each person from their code, or SeekOut for a GitHub rating next to outreach. Many teams pair AyHire with the outreach tool they already have.
- **You need your ATS on the cheapest plan**: AyHire includes it on both plans; Pin sells it as an add-on; Juicebox and SeekOut put it on custom plans.
- **You hire across every function at volume**: hireEZ or Gem.

Doing it by hand first? Our guide to [finding engineers on GitHub](/blog/find-engineers-on-github) shows the method, and [how to hire AI engineers](/blog/hire-ai-engineers) applies it to agent and LLM work.

### Questions people ask

#### What is the best Juicebox alternative for technical recruiting?

It depends on which part of Juicebox you use. For search plus email, Pin is the cheapest start and Gem adds a CRM. For deciding which engineers can do the work, AyHire judges each person against your role from their commits, pull requests and READMEs, and SeekOut rates GitHub members with a Coder Score.

#### Does Juicebox use GitHub?

Its PeopleGPT page lists "activity signals from GitHub, publications, speaking engagements, and more" among the signals it surfaces. It doesn't say more than that, so ask on a demo how it shows a person's code.

#### Is there a free Juicebox alternative?

Pin has a free plan with 5 contact lookups a week. AyHire and SeekOut have free trials with no card, of 14 and 14 days. Juicebox has a free plan of its own, with limited searches. AyHire's [GitHub profile check](/engineer) is free with no account: enter a username to see how AyHire reads that person's public work.

#### How much does Juicebox cost?

As of 27 October 2026: Starter $99 a seat a month billed yearly or $119 monthly, Growth $179 or $199 a seat with up to 5 seats, Business custom and annual only, and Juicebox Agents $199 per agent a month as an add-on.

## SeekOut alternatives, and AyHire vs SeekOut

https://ayhire.com/alternatives/seekout · 27 October 2026 · 6 min read · Nawneet Kumar

> SeekOut rates GitHub coders one to five stars. Four SeekOut alternatives for engineering roles, prices as of October 2026, and AyHire vs SeekOut side by side.

SeekOut is a recruiting platform that searches "1B+ profiles" and, its homepage says, finds talent "from patents, GitHub, publications" and other signals. For engineers, its best-known feature is the Coder Score: one to five stars for each GitHub member, overall and per language.

People look for a SeekOut alternative for three common reasons. Only the entry plan has a published price. The full ATS integration is on custom plans. And a star rating tells you how someone's code ranks across GitHub, not whether they fit your role. This page compares four alternatives for engineering roles, then puts AyHire and SeekOut side by side. AyHire is our product, so read those parts with that in mind.

Every vendor claim comes from the vendor's own pages, opened on 27 October 2026.

### What SeekOut does with GitHub

SeekOut's help centre (both articles dated 1 September 2026) describes it plainly:

- It indexes "the descriptions and metadata of all GitHub repositories", and analyses "every code contribution" for its impact.
- Each GitHub member gets a [Coder Score](https://support.seekout.com/en/articles/11878149-what-is-coder-score-and-how-is-it-calculated) of one to five stars. Five stars is the top 2%, four the top 10%, three the top 30%.
- The two most significant inputs are how many other people work on a project and how often someone's code is forked.
- It [merges GitHub data](https://support.seekout.com/en/articles/11878232-how-is-seekout-s-github-search-different) with public sources such as LinkedIn, for skills, experience, location and current employer.

### SeekOut pricing (as of 27 October 2026)

From [SeekOut's pricing page](https://www.seekout.com/pricing):

- **Sourcing Core**: $149 a month billed yearly ($1,788 a year), or $179 billed monthly. 3 seats, 500 contact credits and 1,000 exports a month, email campaigns. No ATS integration in the comparison table. 14 days free, no card.
- **Sourcing**, **Sourcing + Integration** and **Full Recruiting Funnel**: custom, billed yearly. ATS integration starts on Sourcing + Integration.

The pricing page doesn't mention GitHub, so confirm on the trial that GitHub search is part of the plan you would buy.

### AyHire vs SeekOut

- **What you get back**: SeekOut gives a database search with a Coder Score per person. AyHire gives a call on each person for one role: who to talk to first, one line of why, and one thing to check, with a link to the commit, pull request or README behind each judgement.
- **What is judged**: SeekOut's Coder Score is general and the same for every role. AyHire judges each person against your role's own criteria (Must have, Important, Nice to have), and an unknown never counts against anyone. AyHire also keeps four general scores of public work, one click behind the call.
- **Where people come from**: SeekOut searches its own index of 1B+ profiles. AyHire starts from the work: it searches GitHub for repos that match the role, then finds the people who wrote most of them.
- **Outreach**: SeekOut sends email campaigns. AyHire never contacts anyone: you write from your own inbox.
- **ATS**: SeekOut's full integration is on a custom plan. AyHire sends shortlisted people to Greenhouse, Lever and 11 more ATSs, or to any tool through a webhook, on both plans.
- **Price**: SeekOut Sourcing Core is $149 a month billed yearly for 3 seats. AyHire is $99 a month for one person, or Team at $79 a person a month (2 or more). Three people on Team cost $237 a month, or $197.50 a month billed yearly.
- **Trial**: 14 days on SeekOut, 14 on AyHire, neither needs a card. AyHire's [GitHub profile check](/engineer) is free with no account at all.
- **Roles beyond engineering**: SeekOut covers every function. AyHire is built for engineering roles; for roles that are mostly not code, its web app also looks on LinkedIn and lists those people apart.

Pick SeekOut if you want one tool for search and outreach across all your roles, with a GitHub rating as one signal. Pick AyHire if your hard part is deciding which engineers are worth a call, and you want to see the code behind that decision.

### The difference on a real search

On 27 October 2026 we gave AyHire a brief for a Rust database engineer, through its MCP server. It searched GitHub for `topic:database language:"Rust"` repos with 1,000 stars or more, pushed since 1 September 2026. 37 repos matched. AyHire read the 8 most-starred and took the five people who wrote the most of each: 40 people, each with the repo they were found through and their rank in it. 12 of the 40 already had an AyHire analysis from the last 30 days, which opens free and at once.

Here are the projects, by the commits of their top five people:

- [meilisearch/meilisearch](https://github.com/meilisearch/meilisearch/graphs/contributors), 59,685 stars: 9,817 commits.
- [surrealdb/surrealdb](https://github.com/surrealdb/surrealdb/graphs/contributors), 33,238 stars: 3,703 commits, 2,478 from one person.
- [influxdata/influxdb](https://github.com/influxdata/influxdb/graphs/contributors), 31,786 stars: 11,246 commits, spread evenly (2,064 to 2,515 each).
- [chroma-core/chroma](https://github.com/chroma-core/chroma/graphs/contributors), 29,591 stars: 2,472 commits.
- [t8y2/dbx](https://github.com/t8y2/dbx/graphs/contributors), 27,922 stars, created in April 2026: 6,029 commits, 4,075 from its owner.
- [clockworklabs/SpacetimeDB](https://github.com/clockworklabs/SpacetimeDB/graphs/contributors), 25,397 stars: 1,639 commits.
- [tursodatabase/turso](https://github.com/tursodatabase/turso/graphs/contributors), 25,068 stars: 14,702 commits.
- [valeriansaliou/sonic](https://github.com/valeriansaliou/sonic/graphs/contributors), 21,371 stars: 1,265 commits, almost all from two people.

A rating built on project size and forks rates everyone near the top of these projects highly, and it should. What it can't tell you is which of those 40 people worked on the part your role needs: a storage engine, a query planner, a sync protocol or a desktop client. That is the question AyHire's next step answers. It reads each person's commits, pull requests and READMEs against the role's criteria and links what it found. We list projects here, not people: the developers didn't ask to be on a marketing page.

### The other SeekOut alternatives

### Questions people ask

#### What is SeekOut's Coder Score?

A rating of one to five stars that SeekOut gives each GitHub member, overall and per language. Five stars is the top 2% of GitHub members. Its biggest inputs are how many people work on a project and how often someone's code is forked.

#### How much does SeekOut cost?

As of 27 October 2026, Sourcing Core is $149 a month billed yearly ($1,788 a year) or $179 billed monthly, with 3 seats. The other plans are priced by quote and billed yearly.

#### Is there a cheaper SeekOut alternative for hiring engineers?

AyHire is $99 a month for one person, with ATS push included. Pin has a free plan and a $100 Solo plan billed yearly. Which is cheaper for you depends on seats: SeekOut's $149 covers three.

#### Does AyHire send outreach like SeekOut?

No. AyHire finds LinkedIn and email with their source and how sure it is, but it never contacts anyone. You write to people yourself, which is what we recommend anyway: name the work you read. Our guide to [finding engineers on GitHub](/blog/find-engineers-on-github) covers how.
