5 Juicebox alternatives for engineering recruiting

Five Juicebox alternatives for hiring engineers: prices checked 27 October 2026, what each does with GitHub, and a real AyHire search for an agent engineer.

On this page

Juicebox is a people search with email outreach. You describe who you want in plain words, and its PeopleGPT page says it searches "800M+ profiles from 30+ data sources" and "evaluates up to 5,000 profiles" for each search. For engineering roles, it lists "activity signals from GitHub" next to publications and speaking.

Teams look for a Juicebox alternative for a few reasons. ATS integration is listed only on its custom Business plan. The price is per seat. And when you hire engineers, a search across hundreds of millions of profiles still leaves you reading code to find out who can do the work.

This list is for teams hiring engineers. Every vendor price comes from the vendor's own pricing page, opened on 27 October 2026. Prices change, so check before you buy.

The short version

  • AyHire: best when the hard part is knowing which engineers are good, judged from their public code with a link behind each claim.

  • Pin: best for a free plan and cheap self-serve sequences.
  • Gem: best for sourcing and a CRM that sync with your ATS.

One brief, run in AyHire

Here is what AyHire returned on 27 October 2026 for a real brief: a senior Python engineer who has built LLM agent frameworks. We ran the first step of a role, finding the people behind the code, through AyHire's MCP server. This step is free. We didn't run the same brief in Juicebox, because that needs a Juicebox account; its free plan is the way to compare for yourself.

AyHire turned the brief into this GitHub search and showed it before running it:

agent framework language:"Python" stars:>=1000 pushed:>=2026-09-01 archived:false fork:false

70 repos matched. AyHire read the 8 most-starred and took the five people who wrote the most of each, which came to 39 people, because one person is in the top five of both LangChain and LangGraph. Every person came back with their profile link, the repos they were found through, their rank in each and their commit count. Here is what the eight projects look like, by the commits of their top five people:

Two things stand out. Stars don't tell you how many people built something: TradingAgents and AstrBot are mostly one person's work, and LangChain is spread across five. And in a role, this is only the first step. AyHire then scores the five people who wrote the most, judges them against the role's criteria from their commits, pull requests and READMEs, and tells you who to talk to first. We stopped before that step here, and we list projects rather than people: the developers in these repos didn't ask to be on a marketing page.

1. AyHire, best for judging engineers from their code

AyHire is our product, so read this entry with that in mind. You describe the role in a sentence. AyHire plans the searches and shows them before they run, finds the people who wrote most of the most-starred matching repos, and judges the top few against your role's criteria, with a link behind every judgement. You get a call on each person: who to talk to first, one line of why, and one thing to check.

Key features

  • Criteria per role, each marked Must have, Important or Nice to have. See writing criteria.
  • Who is open to work, LinkedIn and email, each with its source and how sure it is.
  • Shortlisted people go to Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby and 10 more ATSs, or anywhere else through a webhook.
  • Works from Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and other agents over MCP.

Pricing

  • 14-day free trial, no card needed.
  • AyHire: $99 a month for one person. Team: $79 a person a month, at least 2 people. Yearly billing gives 2 months free. See plans and pricing.

Pros

  • One price per person, however many searches you run, within hourly limits.
  • Every claim about a person links to the work behind it.
  • ATS push on both plans, where Juicebox lists ATS integration on Business.

Cons

  • No outreach and no sequences: you write to people yourself. Juicebox sends email from Starter.
  • Public work only. When someone's best work is in private repos, their criteria show as Unknown. That never counts against them, but they rank below people whose public work shows the fit.
  • Weak for roles with little public code. Juicebox searches far more people, for every kind of role.

2. SeekOut, best for a GitHub rating with outreach

SeekOut says it searches "1B+ profiles" and finds talent "from patents, GitHub, publications" and other signals. Its help centre (1 September 2026) gives each GitHub member a Coder Score of one to five stars, overall and per language; five stars is the top 2%. The two biggest inputs are how many people work on a project and how often someone's code is forked.

Pricing (from SeekOut's pricing page): Sourcing Core $149 a month billed yearly or $179 monthly, with 3 seats, 500 contact credits and 1,000 exports a month, and 14 days free with no card. Other plans are custom and billed yearly.

Pros: a documented GitHub rating, outreach in the same tool, three seats on the entry plan.

Cons: full ATS integration starts on Sourcing + Integration, priced by quote. The pricing page doesn't mention GitHub, so confirm on the trial that GitHub search is in your plan. Our SeekOut alternatives page compares it with AyHire in more depth.

3. Pin, best for a free plan with sequences

Pin is a self-serve sourcing tool whose FAQ says it searches 850M+ profiles. Its Free plan has 5 contact lookups a week, 1 job and email-only sequences. Solo is $100 a user a month, billed yearly only, and Professional $135 a user a month billed yearly, both with multi-channel sequences. The FAQ says it integrates with 120+ ATSs, as an add-on on Solo and Professional.

Pros: a free plan, and sequences on every plan. Cons: ATS costs extra below Enterprise, and its pricing page doesn't mention GitHub.

4. Gem, best for sourcing and a CRM beside your ATS

Gem runs next to your ATS or replaces it. Its pricing page lists AI sourcing across 800M+ profiles, multi-channel sequences, unlimited email-finding and bi-directional ATS sync. Prices are custom, set by company size, except a Startup Program for companies of 1 to 10 people at $130 a month billed yearly. Companies under 30 employees get All-in-One free for six months, then 50% off.

Pros: ATS sync is part of the product, and small companies get a real offer. Cons: no published price beyond startups, and its pricing page doesn't mention GitHub.

5. hireEZ, best for volume across many channels

hireEZ searches "1B+ candidate profiles across 45+ channels", with email, SMS and InMail sequences and 40+ native ATS integrations. Solo starts at $494 a month with a 7-day free trial; enterprise pricing "is configured to the stack hireEZ replaces".

Pros: the most channels in one tool. Cons: the highest published entry price on this list, and its pricing page doesn't mention GitHub.

How to choose

  • You mostly need outreach to run itself: stay on Juicebox, or try Pin for a free start and Gem if you also want a CRM.
  • Your hard part is knowing which engineers are good: pick AyHire for a call on each person from their code, or SeekOut for a GitHub rating next to outreach. Many teams pair AyHire with the outreach tool they already have.
  • You need your ATS on the cheapest plan: AyHire includes it on both plans; Pin sells it as an add-on; Juicebox and SeekOut put it on custom plans.
  • You hire across every function at volume: hireEZ or Gem.

Questions people ask

What is the best Juicebox alternative for technical recruiting?

It depends on which part of Juicebox you use. For search plus email, Pin is the cheapest start and Gem adds a CRM. For deciding which engineers can do the work, AyHire judges each person against your role from their commits, pull requests and READMEs, and SeekOut rates GitHub members with a Coder Score.

Does Juicebox use GitHub?

Its PeopleGPT page lists "activity signals from GitHub, publications, speaking engagements, and more" among the signals it surfaces. It doesn't say more than that, so ask on a demo how it shows a person's code.

Is there a free Juicebox alternative?

Pin has a free plan with 5 contact lookups a week. AyHire and SeekOut have free trials with no card, of 14 and 14 days. Juicebox has a free plan of its own, with limited searches. AyHire's GitHub profile check is free with no account: enter a username to see how AyHire reads that person's public work.

How much does Juicebox cost?

As of 27 October 2026: Starter $99 a seat a month billed yearly or $119 monthly, Growth $179 or $199 a seat with up to 5 seats, Business custom and annual only, and Juicebox Agents $199 per agent a month as an add-on.

Sources, all opened on 27 October 2026: Juicebox pricing, Juicebox PeopleGPT, SeekOut, SeekOut pricing, SeekOut Coder Score (1 September 2026), Pin pricing, Gem pricing, hireEZ pricing. AyHire's search ran the same day; the commit counts are GitHub's, on each repo's contributors page.
